Tips from the Pros: Winter hikes can be a blast if you dress appropriately. Dress for success with sturdy boots—snow boots for icy conditions or hiking boots after snow has melted (avoid tennis or running shoes). Warm gloves and hats are a must. A scarf or balaclava is recommended to cover your face and warm the air you breath in. Wear moisture-wicking layers for extra warmth.
