Internships at Wildlife Prairie Park

Wildlife Prairie Park’s intern program provides a truly unique opportunity to college students to participate in animal care and welfare, conservation education while gaining professional experience necessary for today’s competitive industries. Intern positions offer a wide array of valuable professional experiences not available through classwork alone.

This is an experiential based program and is therefore unpaid. Interns are responsible for their own housing needs. Internships last a minimum of 12 weeks and may be eligible for college credit.

Career Opportunities

Internships at Wildlife Prairie Park


Animal Care Internships

This internship offers a wide range of experience in animal care, welfare, and behaviors. Working with Wildlife Prairie Park’s animal keepers, animal care interns will provide basic animal care including feeding, cleaning, and record keeping for select species.

Interns will also make animal behavior observations and help with enrichment projects.


Conservation Education Internships

This internship provides experience in environmental interpretation and conservation education. Working with Wildlife Prairie Park’s education team, interns have the opportunity to further develop skills in public speaking, research writing, and guest interaction while engaging a diverse audience for a variety of education programs, on-grounds animal interpretation, and can get involved in a conservation education program.


Marketing Internships

This internship is project-based concentrating on developing brand awareness mostly through video media that will be used for events, internal signage, and across all social media platforms including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
