Tips from the Pros: Winter hikes can be a blast if you dress appropriately. Snow boots are recommended in snowy, icy conditions and sturdy hiking boots once the snow has melted (no tennis shoes or running shoes). Wear wind & water-resistant pants (no blue jeans or sweatpants). Warm gloves and hats are a must. A scarf or balaclava is recommended to cover your face and warm the air you breath in. Dress in layers with a warm underlayer that is moisture whisking.
