Pioneer Day

Step back in time and join us for a day in the life of a pioneer. See inside our 1800’s Log Cabin and the Graham Chapel School House. Enjoy vendors, activities performances, animal programs, and more in the Pioneer Area. Dressing up in time period clothes is highly encouraged. FREE for WPP Members. Park admission for non-members.

The Park is open from 9am-6:30 p.m.
The Animal Trails are open from 9 a.m - 6 p.m.

$5 Hayrack Rides into the Bison and Elk Pasture | 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m. & 1 p.m.

  • Hayrack leaves from the CEFCU Pavilion
  • Wristbands can be purchased August 30th at the Gift Shop inside the Visitor Center only
  • Limited Seating. First come, first served

Performances/Shows

  • 9 - 11 a.m. | Bob & Judy Accordion Duo at the CEFCU Pavilion
  • 11:30 a.m. | Keeper Chat with a goat in the Pioneer Area
  • 12 – 2 p.m. | Traditional Folk and Celtic Music by February Sky at the CEFCU Pavilion

  •  Abraham Lincoln as presented by John Walther
    • 10:25 - 10:45 a.m. | Meet Abe and take a photo with him at the Main Train Depot
    • 10:45 a.m. | Ride the Prairie Zephyr Train with Abe to the Pioneer Pavilion 
      • All Day Train Tickets are $7 per person
    • 11:30 a.m. | Presentation in the Pioneer Area
    • 12 - 1 p.m. | Meet Abe and take a photo with him at the Pioneer Pavilion
    • 2:30 p.m. | Presentation in the Pioneer Area
    • 3:25 p.m. | Ride the Prairie Zephyr Train with Abe to the Main Train Depot
      • All Day Train Tickets are $7 per person

  • Obstacle Course at the Pioneer Cabin – Teeter Totter Challenge, Steps, Leap of Faith, Low Crawl, Tanks a Lot, Water Bucket Tote, Tarzan Bell Kicker, Real Horseshoe Toss, River Crossing, Slack Line, Hoop & Stick, Stilts
  • Cabin Activities – Block and tackle, Two man saw
  • Pioneer Craft - cloth doll making and tin punching*
    • *Crafts are subject to change
  • I Spy Game & Trivia in the Graham Chapel Schoolhouse
  • Quill Pen Writing & Clothespin Drop Game outside the Graham Chapel Schoolhouse
