Join us for this month’s Conservation Connection and learn about badgers!
Prairie dogs are an important keystone ecosystem engineer, and conservation translocations are being used to rebuild their populations across their range in the Great Plains. However, translocations of prairie dogs often fail due to predation by mesocarnivores, including the American badger. Therefore, an Eastern Illinois University research group, led by Dr. Elizabeth Peterson is building humane, anti-predator tools that can be used by wildlife managers to keep predators away from prairie dogs post-translocation. In this talk, graduate student, Holly Keating, will talk about her work developing deterrents for American badgers in the field, with the help of Mr. B the Badger!
Guest Speaker: Holly Keating, Badger Researcher from Eastern Illinois University
