You may be eligible for grant funds…

…to help pay for a field trip to Wildlife Prairie Park.  Each year, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources awards teachers of grades pre-K through 12 grants to fund school field trips that focus on Illinois animals and habitats. This year, 2018, you can request up to $500 per teacher, and up to $1,000 per application.

Wildlife Prairie Park’s activities and education all focus on animals and plants native to Illinois. In particular, all of our 45-minute educational programs offered for field trips and other visitors include information on how native Illinois animals rely on specific natural resources, including Illinois’s many forests and waterways.

If you’re interested in applying for a field trip grant to visit Wildlife Prairie Park, review the instructions and application form at this link: https://www.dnr.illinois.gov/education/Pages/GrantsIBFTG.aspx.  Application are due to IDNR by January 31, 2018.

To help you apply for a field trip grant, we have prepared example responses to some of the questions on the grant application form. The sample wording is available at here: IL Biodiversity Field Trip Grant Sample Wording

If you have any questions about this application process or how Wildlife Prairie Park’s educational programs and park activities could enrich your teaching, please call 309-676-0998 ext. 312 or email programming@wildlifeprairie.org.
