Is the Day of Enlightenment different than the Olde English Faire?

Yes, the Day of Enlightenment is a day of learning and discovery targeted at children 7-12. It is very popular to do with day cares and schools as a field trip day. The Day of Enlightenment takes place the Friday before the faire begins.

What can I expect my children to learn about?

The day begins with a joust at 10 am. The children are then split into 5 smaller groups and will rotate between modules including: Historic Birds of Prey, Arms & Armour, Siege Weapons, Life of a Knight, and Light & Heavy Armour Joust.

Will vendors be open during the Day of Enlightenment?

Some vendors will be open selling goods directed towards the younger crowd. If you are looking for a multitude of vendors with more options and entertainment, please come to the Olde English Faire taking place Saturday and Sunday. Friday is for children to learn.

What if I arrive late? Will they wait for me if I am just parking still?

Unfortunately, not.  The day of Enlightenment follows a very tight schedule to ensure that each child has ample time in each rotation. Please arrive to the Park by 9:30am or earlier to allow time for parking and walking to the faire grounds. Programs will run from 10am-3pm.

What if it rains?

All events at Wildlife Prairie Park are outdoors, rain or shine, and nonrefundable. Please dress for the weather!

Can my child dress up?

Yes! Children are encouraged to dress as princesses, pirates, robinhood, fairies, maidens and other creative costumes are encouraged. And remember, one lucky boy and girl will be knighted.

What is the benefit to doing both Day of Enlightenment and Olde English Faire?

Day of Enlightenment is a day for kids to learn. The faire is family friendly and more of a time to play and put what they learn into action! The Faire will have more food, treasure, and other vendors as well as many more entertaining acts. Children who participate in the Day of Enlightenment also get a free admission into the Olde English Faire on Saturday or Sunday.
